NextGen Program
Shooting Stars NextGen is a complete football program. Plenty of kids can do skills in training. Doing them in a game is harder: under pressure, with a defender closing in and no time to think. That is what we build: the decision-making, creativity, and game intelligence to use their technique when it counts.
It comes from playing the game, not from being told. In every session the players read situations, make their own choices, and fix their own mistakes, until that thinking becomes instinct.
This document is our way of sharing how we coach, what your child does on the pitch, and what we're trying to build over time.
What a session looks like
Our turf sessions run 120 minutes, on Tuesday and Thursday. At least 70 percent of that is ball-rolling time, with minimal queues and maximum involvement.
On Wednesdays we add futsal: a smaller ball in tighter space. More touches, less time on each, so control and decisions come quicker. It's a fast, physical session that complements the turf days rather than repeating them.
Every session is built around the game, problem-solving, and freedom to make mistakes. If you watch a training and think it looks chaotic, that's not an accident. Football isn't learned in lines. It's learned in the game. What looks loose is actually designed.
We don't stop and correct constantly. Children learn more by trying, failing, and figuring things out than by being told. We'd rather ask a question than give an answer.
The full-pitch game at the end of every session isn't free time. It's the most important block. That's when we find out if anything from training actually landed: are decisions quicker, are mistakes followed by another attempt, are they trying what we worked on?
What your child is learning
We teach the game through match moments. These are the phases of football every player faces in every match: keeping the ball, creating chances, finishing, pressing, defending, and reacting when possession changes. Each session focuses on one of these moments, and over a four-week cycle the group covers all of them.
Within each moment, the skills are age-appropriate. First touch, body shape, scanning, passing, movement to support, 1v1 attacking and defending, and finishing. These are the skills that matter, taught in situations that look like real games. Futsal sharpens them in tighter space, where a heavy touch gets punished quickly.
We coach in simple English. Cues like "look up," "find space," "pass and move," and "open up" stay short and consistent. Over time, your child builds enough football vocabulary to communicate with foreign coaches and teammates — useful well beyond our sessions.
How we coach
Maximum 16 players per session, with two or three coaches on the pitch. That keeps the coach-to-player ratio at 1:6, which is what we need to give every child real attention. Smaller numbers, more touches, more decisions, more involvement.
Every session ends with a brief reflection. Players share one thing they tried, one thing that worked, one thing they want to do better next time. Coaches do the same. It takes five minutes, and it builds the habit of self-awareness that turns a session into actual learning.
What you can expect from us: honest feedback about your child's development. Not just what's going well, but where the challenges are. If you ask, we'll tell you.
If your child trains elsewhere
Some of the players train only with us. Others train at a variety of academies and join us midweek. Our program stands on its own, and it works just as well as an addition. So if your child already trains elsewhere, they're welcome, and we'll never ask them to choose between their academy and us.
Competitions
We enter small-sided competitions occasionally, anything from 3v3 up to 7v7. We do this for two reasons. Kids enjoy them, and they give parents a window into their child's development. We don't build the program around them. Joining is optional, never required. If a competition ever clashes with another commitment, the choice is the player's.
Who can join
This program is for children born between 2015 and 2017. Selection is based on engagement, growth potential, and commitment, rather than current skill level. If a child doesn't yet meet the criteria, we explain why, share what to work on, and recommend when to try again.
